About Us

Troop 196B (male) was first established in 1962 and Troop 196G (female) was established in 2019. Both units are chartered through St. Peter Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, Il.

Troop 196B currently has 61 registered Scouts and Troop 196G has 23 registered Scouts. We camp each and every month. Past campouts have included fishing, rock climbing and rappelling, camping in a cave or on a submarine, biking, hiking, skiing, and canoeing just to name a few. Each summer we attend a week-long summer camp. Traditionally, we attend at least one high adventure trip each year such as Florida Sea Base or Philmont.

Join Scouts BSA

Youth can join Scouts BSA if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1st; OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18.
